-update 30.8.- oki doki after sitting the whole day infront of the model i'm very happy with the current result
the leg attachments (pink) are seperated and the internal geometry (screws through the leg) is removed also there are again some flat pieces to connect the single pieces together
the left arm attachments are completely over-worked no clippings anymore and the pieces should fit
also all of the valves are now flat (incl. the ones from the airtank) there will be enough 3d stuff to build so there should be some simple pieces too
then the head and the torso are now fit together the head will be still spererate to build but the open side fit to the polygones
what's left ? fitting the cage to the airtank and the torso and the right arm attachments
man, this is the most complicated model that i ever had
-update 20.8.-
ok, i updated the old one because the tank should fit now i was able to edit the mesh that way that the tank (green) is now one single object no plates and no rings
the pink piece is the attachment for the cage i also cut those rings that way that it fit between into a little gap
the violett pieces are the other attachments for the tank i have to edit those a bit too specially this wheels i will try to make them complete flat and copy them, so that i late have only to cut them out and glue two flat pieces together
ok, just to let you know what my current problem is
here you can see the Airtank of the BigSister
the violet mesh is one layer/object also the pink and green
now i have to figure out how to combine them into one single object the green and pink objects are no rings, they are plates which are going completly through the violet object ... to edit the "mesh" like this is not the main problem by the way it's the texture if i combine the single objects, i become texture issues it looks like the texture is ripped appart
meanwhile i found a nice little option what is called "knife" where i can cut existing object like a samurai sword into half without loosing the shape and gain more polygones
so i can remove the inside faces (sides) from the airtank where i can add then the rings (*yush*)
so i "could" build that thing in an other way building the plates and add the tank around but i don't want this first of all, because it's a lot more work and you need a lot more ink also it's more unstable
when it's done no, i have to finish growlmon and then i start her you are watching me anyway as i know so you will see it i upload the photos of the process as always
hey hey meanwhile i solved it the problem was to get the shape of the inside tank to the plates the mesh had an other structure i also changed the messed textured to black it was quite black allready so it isn't that bad
but although i know what you mean i had this stabilizer at the clap trap model to move the arms when it works it's always faszinating how stable paper can be

I don't know If you still need an idea, but you could make a hole in both bodies with a structure that links them.
Look at the pictures below.

In this model, the back of the hull has two holes for the structure of the nacelles. It is more stronger and is simpler to assemble.
Bye.
PD: Sry for my english.
