*ehrm* ok, let's get a bit serious here for those of you who know the games, you may ask why this model don't look like the original marker from the game well, as i recieved the original 3d model from and some other versions from other sources, i noticed that the original texture looks boring and stupid because of the missing blur and glow effects what are just impossible in real life so i decided to build this model as desktop statue like what you can see sometimes in the game
also i had to remove this inner steps, these steps would have made the model a lot more harder because they were not stright so i removed them
all in all, i think it looks good by the way, you don't have to use a stone texture, i noticed that the model looks also good with wood, metal and other textures i guess even in white it will look cool
ok now to the important part
model description: the model comes on 5 pages (page six for instructions and credits) with 50 pieces and is 30cm tall
the pedestal contains a blank cylinder out of paper (comes with the sheets) and the model a bit of weight that it doesn't fall down
pls read the instructions closely
file description: by downloading the package you will get
as always three pdo files one with texture and folding lines one with texture and without folding lines and one white version with folding lines
so you need as always the Pepakura Viewer which you can download here
ALSO this time two pdf's one white with all lines and one without lines (20% line opacity)
some modified slate textures from with color gradients in red, blue, violette, green/cyan and black some wood textures and the original texture
if you have any problems ore questions feel free to ask
to download the model just click on download above or here
some word to the bloggers
you have the permission to use my photos this model is a Deviantart only download so do not upload this model somewhere else and the most important thing
The Marker plays a somewhat peripheral yet important role in the Dead Space universe. As such I feel it's an important "character" within the series. Thus any depiction or representation of the Marker should capture it's foreboding and ominous essence to be successful.
This paper craft representation does just that. Despite, or perhaps because, of the departure from the original texture this model conveys a sense of mystery and other-worldliness. The curvature and flow of the lines draws the viewer from the sharp, almost threatening twin points down along the sinuous and sexy shape of the base; leaving the viewer adrift in a strange sea of texture and colour. The stand itself has a wonderful and simple wood texture with a straightforward unassuming central logo. At no point does the base detract or steal attention away from the Marker. Rather it adds the feeling that this sculpture belongs wherever it's displayed.
As I'm unable to use PDO files this portion of the review is in regard to the PDF variant. The layout of the Marker and the arrangement of tabs for building is nice and simple with no overly complex folding or scoring required. The use of many "tiers" in the build also gives the model a decent amount of inner structural support. I personally would have preferred the continuation of the "tiering" down into the base rather than the use of large pieces but that's a minor quibble and a point of personal preference. I would have also liked a lined and textured version supplied in PDF format but again that's personal preference.
The model overall is fairly straightforward and the sparseness of the supplied instructions reflects this. Builders are generously supplied with various textures, which rival this version in personality, as well as a blank Marker with which to modify and personalize their own.
The Dead Space universe has very few figures or props with which fans may sate their appetites. As such this paper craft is a must for Dead Space fans as well as a nice addition to any paper craft or prop/replica collection(even if you don't know or like the background mythology it's still a sexy model).
Much to my surprise, this was one of the easiest papercrafts I've ever built. The part layout was very easy to follow without part numbers. I found that the best way to build the towers was to make rings and pull the previous assembly through the new ring, making all the folds line up nicely. I also resined the inside once I finished the model to give it more weight and stability. Thank you for this fantastic model!
