Spidertank - a by Destro2k Spidertank - a by Destro2k
by uploading this files
i can say i feel happy, proud and honored
happy that i finished it, of course :aww:
but proud and honored, that i had the chance to build it

with this model i finished my first collaboration with an other dA member

ok, i know you all wanna download as fast as possible the model sheets, but i write this anyway, because it means a lot to me.

in the center of 2010 i started to ask some 3d artists about their models and if they would share it for a papercraft project.

i recieved a lot rejections but :icongriphinator: Griphinator was the first who agreed and send me the mesh of his Spidertank

so give him a big hand too :)

well, i had a lot of problems in the last part of the year and it took a bit longer, more that i expected
but finally
i...... we can bring you this :)

and i guess, not even Griph expected that rotating system of the top :D

But this model has also another important background for me
not only it's a very cool mecha design and a reference for upcoming collaborations
i hope it's a wakeup call for other 3d artists, that there are freaks out there with a lot of skill, who would love to take your visions into reality ;)

ok, but now to the model :D
to download the model
just click download ore here
with downloading this file, you get three pdo's

one with folding lines and texture (lined)
one with folding lines but without texture (white label)
and one without folding lines but with texture (lineless)

so you need as always the Pepakura Viewer which you can download here

the lineless version is hard, specialy when you reduce the objectivity of the cut lines

i printed the sheets with 20% objectivity and it was not easy

the pdo's are not protected, so you can still change the size with the Pepakura Desinger

because it's an OC of :icongriphinator: Griph you will NOT get texture this time

the model comes on 12 pages with 68 pieces

some word to the bloggers

ok, normaly i'm mister nice guy
but this is important for me
because this is a collab, you have to give credits to :icongriphinator: Griph too!
otherwise i can't allow it to write a blog entry

you have the permission to use my photos
you DON'T have the permission to use the renders of Griph
except he write it here in the comments ore you ask him about it

this model is a Deviantart only download
so do not upload this model somewhere else
and the most important thing

this model is free and should it be
so let it be!

and trust me, i search for my stuff ;)

if you wanna write a critique
feel free
but don't critique the model itself

Awesome! Is this original, or from some movie/series? because it has a certain Ghost in the Shell feel to it...

This is a very inspirational model, and highly detailed too!
It could be modified to work as the basis of a star wars or warhammer conversion, (or could be 'mass produced' in paper as is, ready for tabletop gaming!)
Im amazed at the level of detail, and the possibilities are limited only by your imagination

Great work, and hope to see more collaboration like this in the future = )

that is awesome.

Very cool that Griph was nice enough to supply the mesh to work with.

Just regular paper? like, printer paper...? I am very intrigued how you managed this....

jup, normal printer paper
you can imagine it like lego
except that you have to build the single lego pieces first too ;)
