Yoshi - Head by Destro2k Yoshi - Head by Destro2k
oki doki
because i change a lot of stuff
specially of the head
i can only show you the final head with imaginary lines of the pieces

but that what i can tell you is the way you should build it

pic.1
start the head with the eyes and build them from the center
when your're done
connect this outer rim and this little spike underneath

be patient, the tabs are small

pic.2
when you have the eyes, add the background to them
start from top and build to the buttom

pic.3
also build from the outside to the center (both ways)

pic.4
build the nose seperated and add the mouth at page 12

when you're done with the pieces of page 17
add pieces X.1 and X.2 (page 11+12)
to combine eyes, mouth and nose

in the alpha version i had an other design and it was really hard to get this stuff all together
so build out of the X pieces a full ring and start from the center of the eyes and the center of the mouth and build in both ways up/down to the cheeks

pic.5
then add the little "additions" to recieve the dimples :meow:

then just follow the numbers and don't forget the scales ;)

I bet if you got into serious 3d modeling "Unless you already are" you would have some crazy training in proper edge flow of optimized geometry for models...

i allready have to ;)
to build a papercraft it's not like just taking a 3d mesh an importing it into the pepakura designer
i have to look if there are buggy polygones, collisions and clippings and change the mesh from squares into trianlges
sometimes it works very great, just as example, i edited knuckels in a couple of hours
tails took me two full days and sonic, what is meanwhile done with editing
a couple of days
even i know now how to join faces without texture problems
what i had at the time as i edited yoshi
yoshi took me a half year to finish, just for the mesh ^^;

So the models have to be triangulated...no square polygons at all? I'm wondering if I could design a character with papercraft in mind so it's pre designed to work like that.

the problems about the squares is that you wont get a fold line
even the edge is over 180
it's hard to explain
when you build two triangles with a 90 angle
then you can close the open side with a quad face
this face has now an invisible edge in the sheetsand it's impossible to find out how to bend this edge
that's what i mean with buggy polygone
it has a round edge :D
